Elders and Deacons of the Bibelgemeinde Berlin

The Bible uses the terminology pastor (shepherd), elder (presbyter) and overseer (bishop) as synonyms, and so do we. They are all descriptive of the same person who is called to be the head of a local church (flock, herd). While the word pastor (Latin, "Shepherd") emphazises the various tasks of a shepherd, the word overseer emphasizes the supervision of the flock/herd and the word elder emphasizes spiritual maturity. The Holy Scriptures teach that this office in not only officiated by one person, but by a plurality of elders.
